Treatment after breast surgery

If treatment for breast cancer requires the removal of the entire breast (mastectomy), the breast may be surgically reconstructed either during the same session or later when the cancer therapy is complete. This involves reconstruction of the breast using either the body’s natural tissues or a silicone implant. SERAGYN® BR PA/SERASYNTH® MESH BR mesh implants are used to reinforce the soft tissue. Fixation with appropriately placed sutures prevents the expander or the implant from slipping downwards or sideways.

Product characteristics

Ingrowth of body cells promotes integration of the meshes into the tissue structure. With a partially absorbable implant, only a small fraction of PP is not absorbed and remains in the body. The material used for SERAGYN® BR PA/SERASYNTH® MESH BR ensures tested tissue compatibility. The use of mesh implants facilitates symmetrical fitting.

SERAGYN® BR PA – easier to handle

SERAGYN® BR PA can be soaked in a sterile preserved solution, for example, LAVANID®® wound irrigation solution, before the operation. This makes the mesh more supple. Irrigation solutions containing preservatives, such as LAVANID®® wound irrigation solution, for example, have the additional advantage of preventing infection. LAVANID®® wound irrigation solution is also suitable as an irrigation fluid during surgery as well as during wound closure at the end of the operation. Free drainage of the solution must be ensured when used to irrigate parts of the body.
